SANDFIELDS FIRST THE HOW AND WHY

Sandfields First - The Communities First team in Sandfields.

Neath Port Talbot is one of the areas identified by The Welsh Assembly Government as a Communities First area.

Communities First is a resource for all 17,000 people on the Sandfields estate. No-one will be excluded and the team will complement all
existing community initiatives on the estate. We consider this to be essential in keeping with the six themes of Communities First which are:

· Jobs and business
· Education and training
· Environment
· Health and well-being
· Active community
· Crime and community safety

The Communities First team is hoping to have a presence in the west of the estate. They will also have a shop front at the new Local Action Centre at the Afan Lido, Aqua diner (Burger Bar). This will ensure that both east and west wards have access to their expertise and within reach for local residents.
